Daily Assignment Sheets

Image
Here are Tyler's latest daily assignment sheets. Bible:  We have been reading from a children's Bible most days. Occasionally, Tyler will decide to read from his teen Bible. We have memorized Psalm 133:1 and Proverbs 15:18.  Language Arts: Tyler has been reading 9 pages in a chapter book daily. He picked up a bunch of Dr. Suess books at the library. I am reading them to him, but occasionally he will read one on his own. He really enjoys poetry and rhyming. In journal, he writes 100 words with ease. Next week we will start working on editing. He loves tracing cursive letters but struggles with writing them on his own. He will get there. He is taking on 3 new words a week in spelling. In typing, he has a good grasp on the home row and is typing at 9 wpm.  Spanish:  He ran into that part of Duolingo that I didn't think he would be able to handle so I gave my Spanish teacher sis a call to find out what she recommended. She gave us a video and sent us a lesson on c...

Dramatic Reading

Introduced Tyler to the concept of doing a dramatic reading. He will get better at it!

Daily Assignment Sheets

Here are Tyler's latest assignment sheets.  He has taken it upon himself to teach Bible to his siblings when he is home. He does the memory verse with them and then reads a paragraph out of his teen bible to them.  Tyler is also helping Ryan quite a bit with his work. Older kids helping younger kids is one of the best things about homeschooling. This helps them learn how to communicate and reinforces the things they already know. I am so proud of him. One of the things we have started doing is having Tyler watch a science or social studies video and then write a report on it for journal. He is really working hard on his anger management workbook and when he spent a couple of days in the truck with Jess, he mapped their trip in the atlas I sent with him. He was very excited about driving by the Arch in St. Louis and seeing all the big buildings in the cities.  In math, Tyler is working on multiplication. We haven't done word problems in a while because he just reall...

1/4 - 1/22 Assignment Sheets

Image
Here are Tyler's latest assignment sheets. In Bible, we have been working through a children's Bible and working on Ephesians 6:1-3 In language arts, Tyler is currently reading 6 pages a day. For journal, he is emailing me stories each day and is up to a minimum of 60 words per day although he often writes 100 or more. Right now we are working our way up to a minimum of 100 words per day. Once we have that down, we will start editing so he is doing some grammar games to get ready for that. He is on the top row in typing and usually typing at 9-10 wpm. He asked to learn cursive, so we started out with his name, which he is doing very well at. And he is on his 74th spelling word.  Over Christmas break, he asked to learn Spanish so we have started with Duolingo. It's a free adult learning program. I'm not sure if he will be able to handle it, but so far, he seems to be doing well with it.  In math, he is starting to learn his multiplication tables and continues doing rev...

Art Month

Image
Art month was kind of a wash this month because I was very sick most of the month. Normally, it's a virtual Santa's workshop around here, but I was so wiped out! No fever or any other symptoms, just extreme fatigue for weeks. It finally let up just before Christmas, but we didn't get much done. The kids watched a LOT of educational TV and I tried to keep them going with their drill work and reading so it wasn't a total loss. Here's Tyler's assignment sheet for the month. Please ask if you have any questions.
